How to Make Plant Milks: Almond Milk and Cashew Milk
Wait, milk from a plant?
Plant milk or “mylk” is a term for non dairy milks. These can be made from a variety of nuts such as cashews and almonds (nut milks), but also from oats, soya beans, coconuts etc.
Cashew milk and almond milk are two of my favourites to make at home! Watch the video to learn how to make your own. Full instructions can be found below.
Almond Milk
For the smoothest milk, soak the almonds overnight.
Ingredients
- 1 cup almonds
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- 1. Soak 1 cup of almonds in filtered water overnight.
2. Drain off the liquid and add almonds to your high speed blender.
3. Add 3 cups of water (+ flavourings if you wish).
4. Blend on high until white and smooth.
5. Strain the almond milk through nut milk bag (can also use cheese cloth or fine mesh sieve).
6. Enjoy fresh or store in the fridge for a couple of days.
Notes
Optional flavourings include: vanilla, maple syrup, medjool dates, cacao, fresh strawberries...

Cashew Milk
A creamy cashew milk that's perfect with tea or coffee.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cashews
- 4-5 cups water
Instructions
1. Soak 1 cup of cashews in filtered water overnight.
2. Drain off the liquid and add cashews to your high speed blender.
3. Start by adding 4 cups of water (+ flavourings if you wish). If you would prefer a thinner milk, you can add up to 5 cups.
4. Blend on high until white and smooth.
6. Enjoy fresh or store in the fridge for a couple of days.
Notes
1. For the smoothest milk, soak the cashews in advance + strain through a nut milk bag.
